Human responsibility. AI tools. Real stakes.
ELVA is a learning initiative from the SUA Foundation in Skellefteå — built around hybrid intelligence: the discipline of training human judgment and AI capability together. We're currently shaping the next iteration of ELVA. The thinking continues. The format will follow.
Where we are now
ELVA's next chapter is taking shape. We're rethinking what form it should take, who it's for, and how it fits into people's lives and work. The hybrid intelligence model stays — that's the constant. Everything else is open.
Real problems don't come from case books. They come from people who live with the outcome.
When a partner organization brings a challenge to ELVA, they bring the full weight of it: the history, the constraints, the people affected, and the fact that it hasn't been solved yet.
You don't simplify it. You enter it.
Three spaces you move between

The Studio
Where you work. Real briefs, real partners, real pressure. The Studio isn’t a simulation — it’s the closest thing to meaningful work that a learning environment has ever offered.

The Lab
Where you build your AI toolkit — not as theory, but as practice tied directly to the challenges in the Studio. Skill sprints. Methods. Tools you’ll actually use.

The Agora
Where you think out loud. You explain your decisions, challenge others’, and start to understand how you actually reason. This is where judgment becomes visible — and improvable.
Skellefteå
Why this. Why now. Why here.
Skellefteå is a city in the middle of a real transformation. New industries are reshaping employment, housing, and the local energy grid as we speak. The winters are long and dark. The summers offer 20+ hours of light. The landscape is vast enough to remind you that most of the world happens outside of meetings.
We chose this place because it isn't a backdrop — it's part of the curriculum. The region's challenges are the region's classroom. In a place where trees outnumber people, you learn to take up space deliberately, and move through it with a sense of responsibility you can't fake.
If you want to study systems in theory, you can do that anywhere. If you want conditions that force judgment, this place will make sense fast.
